about

Beyond Order is a DIY political-thrash punk band from Muskegon, Michigan. We strive to use music in order to push the world to see civilization as a mosaic of unique pieces. Our mission is to open hearts and enlighten minds, to break down and expose the ridiculousness of prejudice and short-sighted, shallow thinking. We encourage individualism over classism, racism, and sexism; action over prayer; and cooperation over coercion and violence.

Disestablishmentarianism can be both cathartic AND fun!

Founded in September, 2016 by bassist and vocalist Doug Olmstead with friend and long-time local punk rocker Kevin Krum (bassist for Jim Jones and the Kool-Ade Kids--who Doug idolized as a young musician), Beyond Order started as a solo project for fast, heavy licks which never got used in Doug's previous band, Clawhammer Lobotomy. The group grew from a solo project, to a duo with Kevin, eventually adding Doug's dad Brian on drums and brother AJ on keys.

Right before recording their self-titled E.P. in early 2018, Kevin departed for other projects and Nate joined in on guitar. Later that year, after recording their first full album, Let Them Eat Cake, Kevin Alofs joined the band on vocals.

The band in its present form was complete!
Inspired by legendary local punk bands such as Jim Jones and the Kool-Ade Kids, Dirt Farm, Duck Bomb, Clawhammer Lobotomy, and Cycles; Beyond Order exists in the NEW Muskegon underground.

"Let Them Eat Cake" is a collection of originals and covers which delve into several political topics relevant today. From gender discrimination to the freedom of movement, the government is not only out of touch with what the citizens really feel is important, but works to opportunistically infringe upon our rights as not only United States citizens, but as human beings.
